Buddy loves going places. This adorable 11-year-old can’t wait to get in the car and go anywhere. But there was one place he liked more than any other.
So when Buddy heard he was going to the vet, he couldn’t help expressing his excitement.
“I asked Buddy if he wanted to see the vet,” Buddy’s sister Stephanie Trump told The Dodo. “When he realized he was here for the test, he started complaining. I’m not quite sure why Buddy likes going there.”
On further thought, Trump realized that Buddy probably thought he was going to be at the vet for a long time, which is probably why he lit up.
“It’s a fairly small clinic, so they pretty much all know him,” Trump said.
As for what happens when Buddy gets to the vet, the lab mix gets a lot of attention and hospitality.
“He’s a big couch potato who really likes to eat and love to be petted,” Trump said.
Buddy brings joy to everyone he meets, whether he’s at the vet, on the street or at home. But this very good boy first entered his family life purely by chance.
“I have a brother with autism, and when we were kids, we had a lab mix named Buddy,” Trump said. “My brother kept saying he wanted another lab called Buddy.”
The family learned that a nearby rescue dog had a certified therapy dog named Jax, but they never made it that far.
“Saw my brother’s first kennel with this yellow lab mix and it just started going crazy,” Trump said. “The lady said his name was Bart, but they called him Bart for short. “My brother thought it was a signal.”
Since then, Buddy has become part of the family.
“He gave me an excuse to go out and want more,” Trump said. “But more importantly, he gave me unconditional love.”
