Eight years ago, Peanut was just a puppy when his human sister Malaika Jaovisidha was in college. He didn’t know when he would see her again, and each day felt longer than the last.
A few months later, when Jaovsidha came home from vacation, Peanut saw his sister so excited that he couldn’t stop kissing her.
During school, Jaovsidha often returned to her home in Thailand. As soon as he saw her, Peanut would go crazy and lick his face.
“Whether I’m away for a week or a few months, each reunion is just as exciting as the last,” Jaovsidha told The Dodo. “But I usually never [left] Over 4-6 months at a time. “
Strict travel restrictions are in place worldwide until 2020. Jaovsidha was stranded in Australia for more than two years before he was finally able to fly home.
“I’m really scared [Peanut] I’ve been forgotten,” Jaovsidha said. “I’ve never been away for so long, so I don’t know what’s going to happen. “
When the day came, Jaovsidha immediately found Peanut and her family at the port of entry. Senior Chihuahua saw her too, but judging from his reaction, he didn’t recognize her.
“All he did was watch me wag his tail,” Jaovsidha said. “That’s how he usually greets strangers who come over and touch him.”
But when Jaovsidha spoke, Peanut recognized her voice immediately.
“I called his name and he was definitely ballistic,” Jaovsidha said. “He started crying and kept crawling on top of me and kissing me!”
Peanut is happy to see one of his favorite humans again, like every time she comes home from school. Now, Peanut and Jaovsidha are making up for a lost time by doing their favorite things together, like walking and hugging.
“I miss hugging him,” Jaovsidha said. “It’s the sweetest thing.”
